A statement for the Press from Norwich City Supporters Trust regarding the appointment of the new Chief Executive
Amid the allegations by some fans that the directors at Norwich City Football Club lack sufficient football knowledge, the Trust believe they are to be congratulated on obtaining the services of David McNally as the new chief executive. His track records at both Celtic & Fulham are excellent and if he can bring even 50% of that level of achievement to Norwich City then our future looks significantly brighter.
We understand that new director appointments are also imminent at Carrow Road and hope these will prove to be similarly astute acquisitions at board level.
The vitriol from certain quarters toward the current remaining directors has in our opinion been unacceptable and we hope this first astute appointment by these same directors will begin the process of re-connecting our Football Club with the fans.
Our new chief executive will obviously have his own style of doing things but we would urge him to avoid the mistakes of his predecessor. Norwich City Football Club belongs to the community of Norfolk and it’s many lifelong fans. Any individuals appointed are but custodians of our great Club during their tenure and the fans will still be here after they have gone.
We believe that Norwich City Supporters Trust has a significant role to play in our Club. The Trust provides a fan empowered avenue for all supporters to reunite behind our Football Club and the democratic process already in place to eventually have a fans representative on the Board of Directors
